The Bishop of Busoga Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Prof. Grace Lubaale, has urged the faithful to follow st. James’ example and pursue their goals irrespective of the challenges and obstacles.
He said trials and tribulations will always be there but urged the faithful to follow St. James’ example and emerge out stronger and more resilient.
“Challenges will always be there but the solution is to calm down. Many faithful always come to me with challenges but the constant answer I give them is ‘calm down’,” Bishop Lubaale said.
The Bishop made the remarks at the Hotel and Tourism Training College (HTTC) where he and several other members of St. James Church in Jinja were hosted for a luncheon on Sunday, July 26th as part of activities to mark St. James Day.
While welcoming the guests to the college, the college Principal, Richard Kawere, hinted on the historical nature of the college’s application hotel, Crested Crane, which he said has hosted all bishops of Busoga Diocese.
“The Crested Crane Hotel has been part of the livelihood of people in Jinja and when the old structure was demolished to pave way for this new infrastructure that you are seeing, we decided to create a small museum to keep the memories of the old hotel alive,” Kawere said.
Kawere said the college currently has a total enrolment of about 1,500 students spread over three learning models; conventional, apprentices and short course students.
He urged the congregation to prioritize education of the young people as a way of transforming the society.
“We support the needy people under our Kyabazinga/community scholarship and we also have a sports scholarship for the extremely talented young people,” Kawere said.
St. James Day, or feast of Saint James is celebrated annually on July 25th to honour James the Great, one of the 12 apostles of Jesus Christ and marks the traditional date of his martyrdom in 44 A.D.
