It was a mixture of fun, relief and work as a total of 32 Hotel and Tourism Training College (HTTC) Top Management members gathered at the famous Elgon Hotel in Mbale for a four-day retreat.
The retreat organized in Uganda’s histrorical city of Mbale aimed bringing together the college’s top brass to discuss the strategic direction of the lone government owned hospitality institution in the country.
“We are here for relaxation and work. We come 200km away from work for purposes of concentration and meditation,” said Mr Moses Kaneene while opening the four-day retreat.
Mr Kaneene commended the Human Resource department for organizing the retreat and hailed members for turning up for the event.
In his submission, one of the facilitators, Dr Fred Lwanga, urged members to reflect on the college’s performance in the last five years and work hard to align their day-to-day activities with the agreed strategic plan.
The college principal, Mr Kawere Richard, in his remarks called upon members to always yearn for the best regardless of the environment.
He also urged members to embrace ICT as a key driver of the college’s vision to attain a centre of excellence.
“We can’t run away from technology. What we need to do is to identify deficiencies at an individual level and get helped,” Mr Kawere said, adding that staff will be trained basing on their tasks in the system.
